Happy Holidays everyone! Some quick news on PieLab in Alabama since it’s opening in early November.

Pie shop used as venue to connect to Hale residents

Almost a dozen varieties of pie were available at Pie Lab’s grand opening celebration in November.

They sat on old racks scavenged from the remains of failed restaurants — filling the shop with the smells of banana cream and pear berry, lemon meringue and organic cranberry — when Jenny Holmes of Folsom, walked in off Greensboro’s Main Street. And she bought a slice of nearly everything she saw.

But the young people rolling dough and ringing up Holmes’ bill wanted her thoughts more than they wanted her money.

Living Life to the Fullest

The Living Life to the Fullest project in the (blank)LAB at the Better World by Design was a huge success. 150 people have signed up, received their t-shirts and have had their photos taken. Their task after taking the oath, “do something meaningful in your life.”

If you’re attending the Make/Think AIGA Conference this week in Memphis, make sure to visit the (blank)LAB on Saturday, October 10th, at the Memphis Rock n’ Soul Museum on 191 Beale Street. Trust me, you can’t miss it!

Mobility + Design = Possibility

(blank)LAB, a mobile studio fabricated to continue building relationships and working on projects for the greater good will be in Providence, Rhode Island this weekend (Oct. 2 – 4). Joined by Brown and RISD’s student-organized international conference on the power of design for social and environmental activism — A Better World by Design — Project M will recruit 100 conference attendees to enter the (blank)LAB and agree to “Live Their Life To The Fullest”, becoming part of a lasting “Better World” network inspired by designer Jenny Leonard.

it's interesting that no matter how much thought you give to your goals, how much you dream about them or how much you want them to be real, the best way to achieve your goal is to just do it.

you shouldn't think about how your plan could fail, but rather, you should think about what you need to do in order for it to succeed. don't give yourself the option of failing. if negativity is out of sight it's not corrupting your path to completion. don't fear the reaper.
